Sports Physiotherapy, Therapy
and Rehabilitation
Injury Mechanics understand the impact injury can have on your lifestyle. Whether it’s a minor or a major injury, the goal is to rehabilitate our clients and teach best practices to prevent future injury or pain.
We aim to help you reach your personal goals, no matter the size, through our sports physiotherapy service.
What is sports physiotherapy?
Sports physiotherapy focuses on the prevention and treatment of injuries linked to exercise or sport. However, you don’t need to have experienced an injury to seek sports physiotherapy. We also work to treat muscle fatigue and speed up recovery after sport or exercise. This will improve your athletic performance, and in turn reduce the risk of future injury.
Techniques used in sports physiotherapy of course vary based on your situation, but you can expect massages, joint mobilisation and exercise programs to help you meet your goals. With physical exercise, it’s important to focus on the muscles and develop systems to help you reach your potential without damaging your body or experiencing discomfort.
Sports physiotherapy vs standard physiotherapy

Sports physiotherapy and standard physiotherapy use similar techniques and aim to work alongside you to achieve goals, but sports physiotherapy is usually more targeted towards specific athletic performance and improvement in a specific sport/activity.
This can be as broad as you like though; you might have specific goals such as knocking a second off of your 100 meter sprint time, or you might simply want to improve your sporting ability.
When should you see a sports physiotherapist?
You should see a sports physiotherapist when you’re struggling with, or just want a boost with:
1
Improving performance
If you feel like you’ve reached a point where improving performance has slowed down, or you’re not sure what the next steps are to take your body to the next level, sports physiotherapy can help with this. Through medically-backed techniques, our team will assess your situation and develop a plan and actionable goals for you to increase your physical ability in a controlled and safe way.
2
Injury rehabilitation
Whether you’ve recently sustained an injury, or you’re still recovering from a previous one, sports physiotherapists focus on rehabilitation. Our ethos is to work alongside you and listen to your goals, advising you on safe ways to regain strength.
3
Weakness
Due to strain and pain, sciatica can cause weakness in the affected area. This can sometimes cause injury.
4
Reaching Goals
The Injury Mechanics team differs from others because our primary aim is to help you reach your goals, no matter what. Instead of applying generic methods and techniques to all of our clients, we ensure that we fully understand every individual scenario, and how we can be involved in aiding rehabilitation or reaching personal goals.

Physiotherapy after a sports injury
After a sports injury, physiotherapy is a key part of recovery. Navigating your journey back to full fitness is rarely easy, and we find that many of our clients need an expert helping hand in finding the right areas to focus on.
Injury Mechanics aims to have an impact beyond our sessions, as well as during them.
During sessions, we may focus partially on the right massage techniques to provide relief, reduce inflammation and promote healing in the body.
After sessions, we’ll also try to teach you best practices and leave you with a plan for exercises you can do without our help, which will be focused around treating your injury and reaching your personal goals.
